Simon Morrow

  • I have been involved in dispute resolution ever since qualifying as a solicitor in 1989.  I have considerable experience of acting on behalf of individuals, partnerships, local authorities, and corporate and insurer clients in relation to a wide variety of personal injury claims, including those arising from accidents, assaults, abuse, bullying, harassment, work overload, exposure to harmful substances, noise, vibration, repetitive movements and heavy lifting.
  • I joined BLM in 1997 and have been a partner in the firm’s occupational disease team in Manchester since 2000.
  • I currently specialise in the defence of disease claims relating to workplace exposure to dust, particularly asbestos-related claims, and actions for workplace stress.
  • I have responsibility for a 20 strong team of lawyers dedicated to resolving litigated occupational disease claims for insurers, corporates and individuals right across England & Wales, and occasionally beyond.
  • I regularly produc articles, speak and provide training on matters relating to occupational disease claims.

Significant cases

  • I acted for the successful defendants in both Wombwell v Grimsby Fish Dock Enterprises Ltd (a Court of Appeal decision on the extent of the duty owed by an occupier to its visitors) and the important asbestos exposure case of McGregor v Genco (FC) Ltd.
  • I also represented the successful third party in another significant asbestos disease case, Macarthy v Marks & Spencer & D H Allan Ltd.
