  • I joined the firm in June 2017 from a specialist media practice.
  • I specialise in defamation, breach of confidence/misuse of private information, data protection (both contentious and non-contentious matters), breach of contract and negligence claims where I have extensive experience advising insurers, publishers, celebrities, local authorities, police forces, hospital trusts, schools, religious institutions and insurance brokers.

Significant Reported Cases

  • Thornton v Telegraph Media Group (where the court recognised a necessary threshold of seriousness in defamation claims which was the foundation for the new statutory serious harm threshold in the 2013 Defamation Act).
  • Subotic v Knezevic (recognised as signalling the end of ‘libel tourism’ in this country).
  • Cook v Telegraph Media Group (a successful summary judgment application in the only claim arising from the notorious MPs’ expenses scandal).
  • Giggs v Thomas (acting for the defendant in the well-publicised privacy action brought by footballer Ryan Giggs).
  • Acted for Independent Print Ltd and Evening Standard Ltd in the case of Lachaux v Independent Print Ltd & Anor (the current leading authority on serious harm).
