Chris Fletcher


  • I have worked on aspects of long and short tail occupational disease claims, including work-related stress and bullying and harassment claims often involving complex cross-over with Employment Tribunal matters. I also work on asbestos-related disease and occupational cancers claims, acting for insurers and corporate clients, as well as providing policy coverage advice.
  • I have extensive experience in advising corporate clients faced with legacy occupational disease liability difficulties and project work aimed at scoping potential cancer UK liabilities for UK clients.
  • I also advise insurers and as a speaker at events on strategic issues covering themes across emerging risks such the developing landscape in harassment claims, psychiatric claims following data protection breaches, nanotechnology and e-cigarettes and response to government consultation exercises relating to proposed changes in the law.
  • I am dual-qualified in Scotland and England & Wales, qualifying as a solicitor in Scotland in 1996 and in England & Wales in 1998, going on to train and subsequently work with the insurance liability team at Dundas & Wilson CS in Edinburgh. I then joined a national commercial and insurance firm in Manchester in 2000, becoming partner in 2004 and head of disease litigation in 2008. I joined BLM as a partner in March 2010.
