Steve Kuncewicz discusses Twitter's ban on political advertising on influential advertising platform The Drum

01 Nov 2019

Twitter's recently announced ban on political advertising on its platform (from 22 November) is unlikely to force the hands of Facebook & YouTube into doing the same suggests BLM partner and social media expert Steve Kuncewicz in The Drum - a specialist advertising and marketing platform for agency executives.

With a UK general election and the US presidential election next year, Twitter's move was an unexpected one, and others are wondering now whether Facebook will follow ssuit, however Steve Kuncewicz thinks this unlikely:

“Unless there’s widespread outrage from its users, Facebook doesn’t look to be changing its stance any time soon," said Steve Kuncewicz, partner at BLM law firm and specialist in social media law.

"There’s no indication that YouTube will either, given that its already blocking out advertising space for candidates in the 2020 US election.”
