Proposed changes to key EU motor directive

The European Commission's third option to change the definition of vehicles in the Motor Insurance Directive is the UK industry's preferred option but lobbying by trade bodies needs to continue to ensure this outcome.    

BLM director of policy and government affairs, Alistair Kinley spoke to Post magazine this week about why the third option looks likely to be the eventual choice.

He said: "The commission has put down a range of options to obviously stimulate discussion but in my view probably the cleanest and most practical option, the one with the fewest unintended consequences, would be the third option. It's the one that we have been thinking about and discussing with clients and customers for a few months now."
