NIHL overcrowding leading to claims 'backlog' as new entrants flood market

BLM partner and head of the firm's occupational disease team, Nick Pargeter speaks to Post Magazine about the recent rise in NIHL claims and how it is affecting the legal process.

In an interview published today, Nick discusses some of the difficulties with processes for industrial deafness claims and what the industry needs to do in order to process claims more effectively.

"...the process is dysfunctional because the majority of NIHL claims fail - there is therefore, enormous waste incurred by claimant lawyers in prosecuting and insurers defending claims which have no merit. As more of these claims reach the litigation stage, more court resources will have to be allocated to NIHL..."
