Welcome to the recording of our “GDPR: where are we now?” webinar for insurers, first broadcast live on 27 February 2019.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force on 25 May 2018 to much fanfare. Nine months into the new regime we took stock of how the GDPR is, in reality, affecting businesses. At the time that the GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 came into force they were heralded as pieces of legislation that would change the way in which we all lived and worked. The prospect of group actions and vast fines caused great concern. During this session we look at how businesses have reacted to the new regime, look at the incidents and claims that have arisen since May 2018, and take stock of the most relevant judgments since then.
By watching this webinar you will gain a greater appreciation of:
- The most recent guidance and good practice from the Information Commissioner’s Office
- How the courts are treating the GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
- How the claimant legal market is responding to the new legislation and what this means for you as a business
- The types of incident that can generate claims and the trends and patterns that we are seeing in the claims that are being pursued
The session is presented by our specialist technology and media partners:
Tim Smith, partner and head of TMT & Cyber practice group
Nick Gibbons, partner
