Action Fraud, the UK's cybercrime and fraud reporting centre, has issued an alert to warn teachers of the dangers posed by cold-callers purporting to be officials from the “Department for Education”.

The person will then send an email which includes a zip file attachment which contains ransomware. Once downloaded, it will encrypt files and demand money to recover the files.
