Andrew Coyne discusses how the law changes affect care homes, following the recent case of Cox v Woodlands Manor Care Home Ltd which was heard at the Court of Appeal January 2015.

"...the regulations were initially implemented to safeguard consumers from the unreasonable influence of doorstep salesmen, and provided a right to cancel any agreements which they may have felt pressured into.

"In this case, the Court of Appeal decision goes wider and confirmed that the solicitor and claimant would satisfy the definition of 'trader' and 'consumer' under the regulations..."
