Construction firms fined millions for health and safety offences since February 2016

06 Jul 2016

BLM partner Helen Devery has spoken to the construction press regarding the new health and safety guidelines which came into force on 1 February 2016.

Speaking to both Builder and Engineer and Housebuilder and Developer magazines, Helen highlights that the construction industry has been most affected by the new guidelines with nearly 40 per cent of construction companies issued with fines totally nearly £8million.

Helen says: "These new guidelines have introduced fines that are proportional to the size of the company, meaning that both small and large businesses will feel the same impact.

"It is expected that fines will remain high for larger firms that are charged with serious offences so businesses need to work harder than ever to avoid incidents and the subsequent negative impact on their people, productivity and profits."
