BLM partner Caroline Gillespie has become the head of the Family Law team in Scotland. She succeeds Siobhan Kelly who becomes a Family Law consultant with the firm.
Caroline has more than 20 years’ experience in litigation. Her practice has concentrated exclusively on Family Law since 2002 and has seen her conduct complex Family Law disputes, including a mixture of Child Law and financial provision within divorce cases. She is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in both Family Law and Child Law and became a partner in 2011.
Head of BLM, Scotland and partner, Karen Dance said: “Having trained in Collaborative Law, Mediation and as a seasoned litigator, Caroline’s 12 years growing Family Law with Siobhan mark her strong expertise to lead our busy family law team. Family law is continually evolving and developing and Caroline and the team are very well respected in this area.
“Siobhan has gained an excellent reputation having been involved in challenging, complex and often high-profile cases and we are pleased that she will continue on a consultancy basis.”
Speaking on her appointment to the head of family law, Caroline Gillespie said: “It is an honour to become the head of the team having worked closely with Siobhan to grow the team following her establishing the family practice some twenty two years ago.
“Our team provides advice on all aspects of family law and is experienced in each of the alternative dispute resolution options, as well as being long standing litigators involved in cases in both the Court of Session and the Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland. We are dedicated and committed to guiding our clients with sensitivity and care to achieve the best outcome for their individual needs.”
As well as having a presence in Scotland, BLM has also recently extended its family law offering to England and Wales with the arrival of Daniel Jones and his team in Liverpool, London and Manchester. Caroline added: “This means we are now able to offer advice to clients in both jurisdictions, with their differing procedures, as well as being able to collaborate within the firm on cross border issues. We have found ourselves regularly being asked to undertake litigation south of the border and now that is possible.”
BLM’s family law team offers a full range of services to support the end of a marriage, co-habitation, civil partnerships or child related issues, with a particular interest in relocation cases.
