BLM head of reinsurance joins London FOIL

22 Oct 2018

BLM head of reinsurance, Gavin Coull has been appointed as an Executive Committee Member of London FOIL, a new division established and launched this month by the Forum of Insurance Lawyers.

London FOIL was created to support insurance and reinsurance law firms working in the Lloyd’s and London Market. It is a platform for lobbying, educating and networking and has an exclusively defendant focused agenda.

According to FOIL, the new division “will comprise sector focused teams – small groups of specialist expert lawyers from different firms collaborating, campaigning, discussing and seeking common solutions to some of the larger thematic issues the industry faces. This could be helping the industry address its modernisation agenda, lobbying on behalf of the industry over Brexit, or teaming up to help the sector tackle the talent and diversity challenges it may face. The thorough industry consultation and modelling that led up to the launch of this new division identified the need for a collective voice on these key issues.

Gavin Coull joined BLM earlier this year. He specialises in dispute resolution for reinsurers and their clients, across a broad range of non-marine classes including property, specie, political risk, engineering, casualty and pharmaceutical. He has extensive experience of litigation, arbitration and ADR in a number of markets, including London, Bermuda and the US.
