Insurance risk and commercial law specialist, BLM has appointed partner Paula Jefferson to lead its London office.
Paula and colleagues joined BLM over two years ago. Paula has many years of experience advising in a variety of injury, disease and professional indemnity matters and now focuses upon advice where there have been allegations of abuse and neglect. She works with many of the firm’s major insurer customers as well as many clients across a variety of sectors including education, faith and media.
BLM senior partner, Mike Brown said: “Paula is an extremely well-respected colleague with strong relationships in the insurance sector. She is the perfect person to capitalise on our presence in EC3 and to lead and work with all our London team to grow our business further. We are thrilled that Paula has taken up this position.”
In 2015 BLM moved its entire London operations to a single new office in EC3 as the firm established a stronger presence in the London Market. The office is now led by almost 50 partners, supported by a team of specialists spanning work types such as casualty, construction, disease, healthcare, environment, property, and professional indemnity.
Last month, BLM launched its diversification strategy to support its leading insurance offering across the UK and Ireland by establishing a new Commercial Advisory practice run by a team of 33 lawyers. The team offers a range of business legal services to a wide range of customers, including local, national and international organisations.
