BLM acts in inquest arising from death after caesarean ‎birth

27 Jan 2017

BLM healthcare partner, Judith Duffin, was instructed in the inquest arising from the death of Frances Cappuccini (click here for press coverage), which took place on 3 16 January 2017 at Gravesend Old Town Hall before HM Senior Coroner Mr Roger Hatch.

Mrs Cappuccini died in October 2012 and the inquest followed a criminal trial in January 2016 where the NHS trust was cleared of corporate manslaughter and a locum consultant anaesthetist was cleared of gross negligence manslaughter. This was the first prosecution of its kind against a NHS Trust.

Judith was instructed by Medical Protection to represent the interests of a doctor who treated Mrs Cappuccini and whose actions were not criticised by the coroner. Judith instructed counsel, George Hugh-Jones QC, of Serjeants Inn chambers.
