Are legal disputes between brokers on the up?

07 Jun 2016

BLM partner Julian Smart has spoken to Insurance Age about the recent rise in legal actions making it to court and whether brokers' responses to the changing broker market is one of the reasons for the increase.

Within the article, Julian addresses issues such as staff moves and data breaches which may have led to a marked increase in reported cases. He also discusses the changing legal landscape and stronger competition across the broker market that is perhaps changing attitudes to fighting cases and taking them to court rather than settling before that stage.

"I think we are hearing a lot more about it now and that means that there are more reported cases, so disputes are actually going to court," said legal expert Julian Smart, head of professional indemnity and D&O at law firm BLM.
