All aboard the Brexit rollercoaster

03 Nov 2016

BLM consultant Terry Renouf speaks to Post Magazine about the insurance industry's standpoint on Brexit, its want for a 'soft Brexit' and what decisions need to be made if we only have until March 2019.

The uncertainty and the fear of where the political negotiations might lead is one of the dominant concerns in the market, says Terry Renouf, partner at law firm BLM: "It is the uncertainty. It is the lack of a steer or a sense of direction. ‘Brexit means Brexit' doesn't really mean anything at all.

"Two years is a pretty short time horizon if you are trading into the EU. March 2019 isn't very long to sort out what those future relationships will look like and sort out the structures you need to sustain your business after 2019."
