Are you looking to launch your legal career but not sure whether university is the right route for you? BLM’s brand new paralegal trailblazer apprenticeship programme might be the perfect alternative.
This is an exciting platform for ambitious school leavers who want to gain valuable experience at a leading insurance and risk law firm, and get paid too!
WHAT ARE WE OFFERING?
An apprenticeship is a work-based training programme that combines on-the-job training with nationally recognised qualifications. Our paralegal apprenticeship programme will involve spending two years gaining hands-on experience in one of our specialist legal teams, supporting BLM to deliver a first rate service to our customers.
You’ll also have the chance to gain a certificate of higher education in legal services awarded by BPP University, a qualification which is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree. This also provides exemptions from the level 7 Solicitor apprenticeship so you could progress to become a qualified solicitor.
You’ll be based in our Manchester office and will be given responsibility for your own cases right from the start. Don’t worry though; you’ll have all the support you need from your supervisor, apprentice mentor and the rest of the apprenticeship cohort.
We’re offering a salary of £12,000 per annum for all our apprentices plus other benefits.
You’ll be given protected learning hours to attend online tutorials, attend face to face sessions with your tutors and peers, and work on your reflective learning.
We also have our very own in-house learning & development team who will provide you with everything else you need to become a dynamic, well-rounded paralegal.
Once you’ve successfully completed your apprenticeship, we hope to keep you on board and offer you a permanent role or the opportunity to progress to complete a higher level apprenticeship.
You’ll need to have achieved or be on target for:
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade A*- C including Maths & English; and
- 3 A-levels at grade C (excluding general studies)
As well as meeting our academic requirements, candidates should have a clear interest in the legal industry, work well in teams and show a commitment to taking advantage of this amazing opportunity. You need to be professional and personable, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to use your initiative.
