Register your interest for our Occupational Disease London seminar of which the keynote topics are acoustic shock and immunotherapy.
The seminar will cover the following topics presented by leading experts:
Acoustic shock and the impact of Goldscheider will be presented by confirmed speakers David Platt QC and BLM partner Nigel Lock who represented the Royal Opera House in the Court of Appeal.
Confirmed speakers on immunotherapy include surgeon turned barrister Jeremy Roussak, counsel for the claimant in the judgment of Howard v Imperial London Hotels which considered whether periodical payment orders (PPOs) are appropriate for paying immunotherapy expenses. Jeremy will provide insight into how such claims might be presented in future and how mesothelioma claimants/patients and lawyers now interact differently with immunotherapy on the agenda. Robyn Brewster of Australian law firm Sparke Helmore is an experienced asbestos litigator in that jurisdiction, frequently dealing with claims for immunotherapy costs. She will share her knowledge of the Australian experience and methods of dealing with these claims. Not yet confirmed is an eminent oncologist speaking on latest treatment and research.
BLM partners Michelle Penn, Vanessa Latham, Chris Fletcher, Edward Sainsbury and Nick Pargeter will speak on other developing issues in occupational disease and legacy risk:
Legal reforms: fixed recoverable costs; discount rate and Third Parties (Rights Against Insurers) Acts
Emerging risks: occupational cancers; asbestos in schools; diesel fumes
A new direction for stress & harassment claims: public liability; breaches of the Data Protection Act; discrimination; policy coverage
